12:00pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in Local news
John Hayes
An Ilkley man has been appointed as a Queen’s Counsel.
John Hayes, of Zenith Chambers, was one of the 84 appointed nationally out of the 183 barristers who applied in this year’s competition.
The majority of barristers appointed as Queen’s Counsel are based in London and Mr Hayes is the only family lawyer to be appointed as Queen’s Counsel this year on the North Eastern Circuit. In his new role Mr Hayes will continue to play a leading part in the development of Zenith’s Family Group.
His specialist practice focuses exclusively on proceedings concerning children, a specialist area which he has developed over the years.
Commenting on the new appointment, Julian Goose QC, head of chambers, said: “We are all delighted by John’s appointment. It is well-deserved.”
John will be officially sworn in as Queen’s Counsel on March 27 at a ceremony before the Lord Chancellor in London.
