As well as keeping theatregoers entertained, BrassNeck Theatre and their audiences have also been collecting money for their designated charity Help for Heroes throughout the year.

Generous donations meant the money raised passed the £700 mark and company members voted to increase that to £1,500 at the annual meeting.

BrassNeck presented the money to Kevin Mitchell, a former soldier injured in Northern Ireland.

“We really appreciate the generosity of our members and audiences,” said Richard Lloyd, chairman of BrassNeck. “With their help we are hoping to be equally successful with donations to our 2012/13 charity, Angelo’s Angels.

“When Angelo Clarke, a much-loved and respected friend within amateur theatre contracted myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow, he and his wife began to fundraise for the Yorkshire Myeloma Research Centre in our own city of Leeds.

“We’ve made a great start with the sale of our calendars and hope our audiences will continue their support when they come along to see Whistle Down the Wind at Yeadon Town Hall, from May 15 to 18, at 7.30pm (Saturday also 2.30pm).”
