Delight over Otley’s first indoor market
7:00pm Saturday 2nd March 2013 in Local news
A new monthly attraction to complement Otley Farmers’ Market and Courthouse Craft Fair has begun.
The first Chippendale’s Indoor Market was held at The Old Grammar School Gallery last Sunday.
Traders selling everything from cheese and sausages to jewellery, art prints and glass took part and attracted a good number of customers, to the delight of gallery manager Zack Whitehead.
He said: “It was put together at late notice following a swift approval of my application for a market licence.
“The mix of traders filled the ground floor and were well received by a surprisingly good turnout.
“The Chippendale’s Market will be run alongside Otley Farmers’ Market, on the last Sunday of every month, for the remainder of the year, with stalls changing and evolving to suit the surrounding markets and time of year.” MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) was among those who attended the first market.
He said: “I was pleased to get along to the Chipp-endale’s Indoor Market at the Old Grammar School Gallery.”
He added: “This is a great new addition to the already established farmers’ market and the Courthouse craft fairs on the last Sunday of the month.”
