Lives of Brian will go on display in Otley

A new thought-provoking exhibition will open in Otley this weekend.

The Lives of Brian, which starts at The Old Grammar School Gallery on Saturday, March 2, features the photographic art of local resident Brian Watson.

Mr Watson began creating photographic art as part of his therapy after being diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder in 2012.

Gallery manager Zack Whitehead said: "As Brian's treatment progressed so did his art, from darker dichotomies to much more colourful abstracts and photographic studies.

"His work, available from just £5, is both thought-provoking and beautiful, challenging the way we perceive mental illness."

A percentage of each sale from the exhibition will go to the SANE mental health charity, in recognition of the help and support the artist has received from mental health care professionals.
