Police call for Ilkley residents to watch out for thieves
8:00am Saturday 9th February 2013 in Local news
Police are appealing for Ilkley and Ben Rhydding residents to be vigilant following opportunist thefts in the area.
Wharfedale and Craven Neighbourhood Policing Team’s Inspector Sue Sanderson has called on people in the town to be on the lookout for thieves who have stolen plaques with metal lettering, a cast-iron bench and other property from gardens in the area in recent weeks.
The thefts took place in daylight, and police believe it is the work of opportunist thieves who travel around the area looking for property to steal.
Inspector Sanderson asked residents to make note of suspicious people of vehicles seen in the area, take down registration numbers, and to contact police.
“Somebody must see something,” she said.
There were three break-ins of sheds, garages or business premises in January, but no house burglaries. Police also recorded two thefts from vehicles, an assault, and four incidents of criminal damage last month.
