12-year-old Annabelle Connor
A Year 7 student from St Mary’s Catholic High School has won a prestigious scholarship for young pianists.
Annabelle Connor, pictured right, recently took part in Richard Meyrick’s Pianoman masterclass at Woodhouse Grove School, Apperley Bridge.
Annabelle was one of ten pianists from St Mary’s Catholic High School, Menston. The performers ranged from 11 to 18 years of age.
At 12 years old, Annabelle was one of the youngest participants.
Head of Music at St Mary’s Victoria Chapman said: “Annabelle’s performance was stunning. She responded to the advice and pointers offered during the Masterclass with such maturity and professionalism and we are extremely proud of her.”
Funded by the Pianoman experience, Annabelle will travel to London for a monthly lesson with Richard Meyrick, who said: “It’s a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity for a talented young musician and we are all excited to see her progress.”
