A relatively new member of Pool-in-Wharfedale's painting community is celebrating being named Artist of the Year.

Cynthia Gilks’ miniature watercolour of a tied-up boat earned her Pool Art Group’s Artist of the Year Award.

Cynthia (pictured), who lives at Churchill Flats in the village with her husband Barry, has only been a member of the group for a year.

Group organiser Pat Walker described Cynthia’s winning entry, which was chosen by an independent adjudicator, as a “delightful little watercolour”.

Now in its seventh year, the group meets from 10am to noon at Pool Methodist Church each Friday and has held several successful exhibitions.
