People are being invited to banish the winter blues with champagne, dinner and dancing at a charity ball.

Tickets are on sale for The Hilary Lovell Memorial Ball, which will be held on Saturday, March 2, at The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate, raising funds for the UK Sepsis Trust.

The ball is being held in memory of Hilary Lovell, a child-minder from Embsay who died on Christmas Day 2010, aged 64. Her daughter Rhian Oliver, who is organising the ball, said: “We wanted the opportunity to really celebrate mum’s life and raise the profile of Sepsis at the same time. The ball is the perfect way to do it – a good old- fashioned night on the tiles with plenty of fun, good food and the chance to dance the night away.

“We have had some wonderful support and I’m very grateful to the local businesses we have been working with so far.

“We have a great selection of raffle prizes, but we’re always on the lookout for more, so if any local companies would like to donate a prize for the ball, please get in touch via the website.”

Guests will be treated to a champagne reception and three-course dinner, followed by entertainment from the UK's leading Michael Bublé tribute act. Sponsored by Skipton businesses R&B Building Services and Medacs Healthcare, the ball will run from 7pm until late and will include a raffle.

Tickets are £35 each, or £300 for a table of ten.
