Burley convenience store’s hours debated

The licensing panel has set a date to consider an application by a convenience store in Burley-in-Wharfedale to extend its alcohol trading hours.

The Co-op, in Station Road, is seeking permission to sell alcohol between 5am and 11pm seven days a week.

The move comes after its last two applications to share the Burley Library building, in Grange Road, were rejected. The plans were not granted due to concerns over traffic.

A Co-op spokesman said the Burley store’s hours would remain 5am to 9pm, however. “Our application to amend the premises licence by five hours will simply ensure that alcohol can be sold during all trading hours.”

The application will go before the licensing panel at a meeting on February 5, at 10am.
