Hens get popularity vote in Bolton Abbey fun
10:00am Wednesday 23rd January 2013 in Local news
Visitors to Bolton Abbey voted three French hens as their favourite scene during its Twelve Days of Christmas event.
The fun involved a variety of scenes from the famous poem set up for visitors to explore Strid Wood.
Many members of the public attended and voted for the scene they liked the most.
To mark their choice, visitors put a coin in the numbered box.
The event raised £986.63 for Variety Yorkshire, which is a children’s charity supporting disabled and disadvantaged young people in the region.
The money will be spent on a piece of equipment to help support and enhance a disabled child’s life.
The second most popular scene chosen by the public was the 12 drummers drumming and in third place five gold rings. The least preferred scene was ten lords leaping.
