Yeadon reader sheds light on nostalgic picture
A reader spotted himself on stage in this mid-1950s photograph we recently featured on a page of festive nostalgia.
David Hemsley, of Maple Terrace, Yeadon, says the photograph was not taken at Yeadon Town Hall, as we had believed, but instead showed a production by members of Yeadon South View Senior School. It was taken in 1955 or 1956 and the production took place at the Queen Street Methodist Church hall.
Mr Hemsley, who is sitting on the front row wearing a scarf, played the boy sent to buy a turkey for Mr Scrooge in the closing scenes of the production.
