Bob Fisher presents the award to Hector Simpson
Young sailor Hector Simpson picked up his prestigious Royal Yachting Association award in a ceremony at the at the London Boat Show.
The 17-year-old from Ilkley, a member of the Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club, was presented with his RYA Yorkshire Region Young Sailor of the Year Award 2012 by Chairman of the Yachting Journalists Association, Bob Fisher.
Hector was voted RYA Yorkshire Regional Young Sailor of the Year 2012 for his achievements in youth sailing.
He was among thirteen RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year winners who are nominated by RYA affiliated sailing clubs, all of whom were judged to have made a significant impact on youth sailing through their hard work and effort.
