Residents of two Ilkley streets have condemned the condition of a road which sits between their properties.

The narrow road passes between Tivoli Place and Richmond Place and is a route for residents to park their vehicles at the back of their properties.

One resident of Richmond Place, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he was angry and disappointed with the condition of the road.

He said: “I'm furious with the disgraceful dirty, bumpy back road which leads to car parking for properties between Richmond Place and Tivoli Place.

“Two of my wheels have been badly damaged in the past six months alone.

“It has been a problem for years. I have lived on Richmond Place for over 10 years now and it is beyond a joke.

“The council have refused to do anything about it when I have asked them.”

Another resident of Tivoli Place echoed the comments and said he had experienced costly damage to his car.

He said a huge nail pierced one of his tyres, which he believes has was picked up on the road.

He described the road as bumpy and uneven.

Keith Escritt, Bradford Council’s principal engineer, said: “This road is unadopted and the maintenance and responsibility for the road lies with the owners of the land, not the council.”
