ST PETER’S CHURCH: The four-week season of Advent may be time enough to make our spiritual preparations for Christmas, and to open all the doors on our Advent calendars, but as the Christmas season unfolded at St Peter’s it was clear that practical preparations for Christmas must have taken very much longer. For Christmas itself, the carol service has held on Sunday, the crib service on Christmas Eve, midnight holy communion to welcome the great event itself, and family communion on Christmas Day. Thanks must go to all the clergy for the enormous amount of time, prayer and thought they put into these events and to the vast army of laity who have similarly contributed to the preparations for our celebrations of Christ’s coming into the world.
