A former Ilkley Grammar School pupil and New York freelance photographer returned to her old school to work with today’s students.
Becca Bland, who graduated in 2001, has worked in New York, ran workshops for children in deprived areas of London, and recently started writing features for The Guardian.
She visited the Cowpasture Road school to give students the chance to become fashion photographers for the day.
Based on the idea “images are everywhere”, the students thought about the meaning a certain character might bring to an image.
Working in both a mock-up studio and on location, the students directed, styled, modelled and photographed a host of historical figures and celebrities.
