The man who brought Countdown to the UK was congratulated on the show’s 30th anniversary when he met with MP Stuart Andrew at the House of Commons.
Marcel Stellman adapted the format of a French show to this country, and has kept the nation busy with conundrums and numeracy puzzles ever since.
He met with Horsforth and Aireborough’s MP Stuart Andrew in Parliament last week to mark the special anniversary.
Mr Andrew said: “What a fantastic show Countdown has proved to be, appealing to so many people over so many years. “It was wonderful to meet Mr Stellman and hear all about how he created the show. It is great to think that such an influential programme has its origins in Leeds.”
