A historic Yeadon pub has called ‘last orders’ this week after serving the community for more than 100 years.
The Clothiers in High Street closed last night to allow for a major three-month refurbish-ment.
The inn, which began serving in the early 1900s, is set to reopen next year with a new look and, probably, a new name.
One of the pub’s last acts in its current guise was to stage a three-day fundraising event for the children’s bereave-ment charity Grief Encounter.
Organiser and Brad-ford Community Broad-casting presenter, Jo Kenyon, said: “We managed to raise £1,071, which is fantastic.
“It has been a very manic and emotional week for all of us. All the staff and customers will be very sad to see The Clothiers close. Some have been coming here their entire lives – it’s the end of an era.
“The fundraiser was planned to involve all the community, young and old, so we had charity bingo on Friday, a huge adults’ Hallowe’en party on Saturday and a kids’ Hallowe’en party on Sunday.
“We have had a fantastic amount of support from local businesses.”
