PEOPLE are being urged to plan ahead in time for next month's first-ever Tour de Yorkshire.

The last stage of the three-day event, from Wakefield to Leeds, will go through Sutton-in-Craven, Cross Hills, Kildwick, Silsden and Addingham

Rolling road closures will take place, but should last for around an hour - unlike last year's Tour de France Grand Depart, which also included promotion vehicles.

Cllr John Weighell, leader of North Yorkshire County Council, said it would be a fantastic event that would bring huge benefits to the county.

“We want to make sure that everything is in place to make it a huge success and ensures the race passes off smoothly for everyone – for the competitors, for the spectators, and for all other residents and highways users," he said.

“We are doing all we can to make sure that it is successful – and that as far as possible, disruption for everyone who needs to use our roads over the weekend is kept to a minimum."

The three-day event runs from May 1 to May 3. Full details of the routes and timings of all three stages can be found on the website letour.yorkshire.com/tour-de-yorkshire
