SCHOOLS across Yorkshire are being urged to register for a one-hour, online first aid lesson created by St John Ambulance.
The charity hopes to teach vital skills to 50,000 UK students in its free Big First Aid Lesson, to be hosted by TV presenter Claudia Winkleman and streamed live at 2pm on Friday, June 12.
The free lesson for seven to 16-year-olds will use real life stories to show what to do in medical emergencies that might happen in the summer holidays, such as an asthma attack, head injury or anaphylactic shock.
It follows the success of the first Big First Aid Lesson last year, shown to 32,000 across the country, including thousands of pupils in this region.
To show the lesson, schools need only an internet connection and a screen, such as an interactive whiteboard.
After the lesson, students will be able to share reactions via the social forum Google Hangouts.
Teachers can devise their own course schedule using the Student First Aid pack from St John Ambulance.
