Ilkley Grammar School took two teams of students to the Pop Maths Quiz which formed part of the Leeds University STEM Festival of Science 2014 (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) last Saturday.
The school had its most successful year ever with two podium finishes.
Out of the 24 teams that took part, the Year 7 team were bronze medallists and the Year 8 team, with one more point than the Year 7 team, were silver medallists. Maths teacher Liz Caven said she felt very proud of her students.
“Having attended the event for six years now, the questions were notably harder this year so to have two such successful teams is fantastic,” she said.
“ Well done to all those who took part – I can’t wait for next year when we will be challenging for medals again!”
