Children from Westville House School in Ilkley celebrated “Harvests Around the World” at their harvest festival this week.

The older children donated money they earned at home, and managed to raise more than £500 which is being sent to Oxfam. The younger children decorated boxes of food from a chosen country to donate to the Ilkley Foodbank.

Henri Murison, collecting their food donations on behalf of Churches Together in Ilkley, said: “We would like to thank parents and children at Westville House, and schools across the town, for all their generosity in supporting those who live in Ilkley suffering from food poverty.”

The Reverend Patrick Bateman, of All Saints Parish Church, said: “The service was outstanding and it was very good to see the children had thought about the wider issues in the world, as well as in the local community.”
