METHODIST CHURCH: Morning Worship on April 20 was led by Fiona Kendall, who took as her theme The hope to which He has called you. We were encouraged to think about the power of prayer, and the need to practise the discipline of prayer, in order to allow God’s love to be fulfilled in our own lives and in the lives of others. Coffee will be served as usual on Tuesdays from 10am in the Church Fellowship Area, and the monthly Bible study will meet at the home of Gill and Angus MacIntosh on Wednesday at 7.45pm. Holy communion will be celebrated by the Rev Tim Perkins on Sunday at 9am and he will then go on to lead First Sunday worship at 10.30am. This will be followed by our Annual General Church Meeting at about noon and all church members are encouraged to be present in order to make decisions that affect the whole life of our church fellowship. We shall also be voting for our next church charity to run from September 2014 to July 2015 and there are four to choose from: Caring for Life, Christians Against Poverty, Junior Missionary Association and Toilet Twinning. We have raised in the region of £1,300 so far for our current charity, mosquito nets for African children, and a final fundraising event for this will take place on Sunday, May 18, when we shall be having a lunch of Simple Savouries and Delicious Desserts at 1.15pm. Anyone interested can ring (01943) 864445 for more information. On Bank Holiday Monday, Burley Methodist Church will be serving refreshments at Norwood Chapel between 10am and 4pm with proceeds for church funds. Our Youth Gospel Choir, Shine, will be singing there at 11.30am, so we hope many people will come to enjoy a day out in Nidderdale and refreshments and music.
