EVENING TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD: Sue Burdett opened our April meeting with the news that we have won the trophy for new members in 2013, and welcomed all members and guests. Our jumble sale raised £140 which was a very pleasing result. Business dealt with, we sat back and enjoyed a presentation by Margaret Smith about her year as Lady Mayoress in Bradford from May, 2012, to May, 2013. She began by giving us the history of her becoming Mayoress and then spoke about her many activities and meeting dignitaries including the Queen. The role also involved raising money for different charities. It was very interesting evening and the vote of thanks was given by Joyce Galling. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 14.
