Thousands of Knight Rider fans from across the globe are expected at a Yorkshire convention to celebrate the cult TV series this weekend.

The event, organised by Otley fan Steve Fawcett, 39, and Rob Ormondroyd, 29, of Bradford, is one of the world’s biggest conventions of its kind.

The star car gathering, which takes place on Saturday, attracted 29,000 fans last year – and was also attended by the show’s star David Hasselhoff.

This year’s convention, which marks the 30th anniversary of the show ending in 1982, will also include guests in replica superhero, Star Wars and Dr Who costumes.

The event’s origins lie with Knight Rider, but over the years it has expanded to include other film and TV replica cars.

Mr Fawcett, who provides KITT cars for Mr Hasselhoff in the UK, said the event was a Knight Rider convention at heart but had other aspects to it. And he predicted this year’s event would be spectacular.

Knightco will take place at Xscape in Castleford, and is expected to attract members of the show’s cast, although it is not yet known if Mr Hasselhoff himself will attend.
