Appeal is launched to help people affected by flooding
5:30pm Saturday 21st July 2012 in News By Observer reporter
Rotarians in Otley have launched an appeal to help people affected by flooding in the Hebden Bridge and Calderdale areas.
The Rotary Club of Otley is keen to raise awareness of the prob-lems householders there have been suffering and help them get back on their feet.
They are also asking people to support their efforts in raising funds to provide those affected with everything from dehumidifiers to carpets, replacement fridges and even, where necessary, alternative temporary accommodation.
Anyone who wishes to support the appeal is asked to send a cheque, payable to The Rotary Club of Otley, to: Westbourne House, Brad-ford Road, Otley, marked for the attention of the president, Lynn Rhodes-Holme.
At her recent induction as president, Ms Rhodes-Holme said this was the first local event of many she hoped the Rotary Club of Otley would support during her year in office.
She has also obtained the use of Otley Butter-cross on the last Sunday morning of every other month, to coincide with the Farmers’ Market, to increase awareness of the club’s work and raise funds for various causes. The first stall will be held on July 29.
