Three women who have dedicated decades to helping their community have been made Honourary Citizens of Otley.
Elsie Hendrey, Susan Pullan and Carol Newbould all received the honour from new Town Mayor Councillor Mary Vickers on Monday.
Coun Vickers said all three deserved the utmost respect for "their remarkable and continuing contribution to our town".
Susan Pullan was honoured for her 40 years service with the Guiding movement, during which she trained thousands of Brownies, and her work for Churches Together in Otley, youth work, and visits to local retirement homes.
Carol Newbould received the honour for training thousands of children to dance, through her Newall School of Dancing, over the past 50 years, along with arranging many fundraising shows.
Coun Vickers said 85-year-old Elsie Hendry had “worked tirelessly” for Otley, serving the WRVS and Meals on Wheels for 17 years, pushing the ‘comforts’ trolley around wards at Wharfedale Hospital for many years, and helping at Otley Action for Older People and a senior citizens lunch club.
