A father and son team are building up to a big celebration this summer when their veterinary surgery turns 60 years old.

Originally established by Christine Woods and Mary Dalby, White Cross Vets, in Guiseley, opened the year the Queen took to the throne.

It eventually moved to its current site at White Cross and, when the nation celebrates the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer, the surgery will mark its 60th anniversary, too.

Now it is in the hands of Tim Harrison, managing director, and his father, Craig, a dermatology specialist.

Planned celebrations include a black tie ball at the Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley.

With the recent launch of the company’s ninth practice in Roundhay, Leeds, the business is swiftly expanding.

“We have gone from employing eight people four years ago to employing 70, with more joining this year. Of those, 68 are pet owners,” said Tim.
