Anglers set for a good catch at Fewston and Swinsty
7:00am Tuesday 13th March 2012 in News
Anglers can expect a real battle the next time they head to the Washburn Valley.
Yorkshire Water will be adding 2,000 blue trout – a species renowned for fighting so hard to escape that they have broken rods – to Fewston and Swinston reservoirs from next week.
The move is part of a re-stocking which will see 17,000lbs of trout, including 8,000 rainbow trout, added to the two sites over the coming months.
Warden for Yorkshire Water's Washburn Valley sites, Colin Winterburn, said: “Our fisheries have never looked better and with the promise of plenty more trout to be added to our water over the next eight months, anglers and fishing enthusiasts alike can look forward with bated breath to a great season ahead."
The fisheries will be open seven days a week, from 7.30am until an hour before sunset, from Sunday, March 25.
Yorkshire Water says bird enthusiasts should also enjoy a visit to the area soon, as a number of migratory species, including visiting Osprey, are expected to return in spring.
