Girls football is thriving in Burley-in-Wharfedale, where Burley Trojans Juniors FC runs a highly active girls football section.

The club is an FA Charter Standard Development Club and is committed to promoting junior football in the area.

Burley Trojans has run four girls teams during the 2007/8 season with 60 girls aged nine to 13 playing matches most weekends in the West Riding Girls' Football League.

The club has also started an U-8 girls' team this summer. Enquiries are welcome in respect of girls currently in Years 2 and 3 who would like to play mini-soccer.

The club always welcomes new players, and in particular, needs new players at U-12 and U-13 levels, as those teams progress from seven-a-side to 11-a-side.

Burley Trojans U-13 girls, pictured right before their cup final against Kirkburton, are looking to recruit some new players for the forthcoming season starting in September.

The girls have been playing together for four years and would welcome some new players for next season where they move up to playing from seven-a-side to nine-a- side.

The girls were runners-up in their league this year and also finished runners-up in the cup and they welcome players of all abilities.

The emphasis is on enjoyment and friendship however they also coach the girls to a high standard through the use of specialist coaching methods on a Thursday evening.
