Menston actor Sam Riley has been nominated along with Sienna Miller for an award for rising stars of cinema.
Sam, 28, has won rave reviews for his performance as Ian Curtis in the film Control, the biopic about the tragic frontman of Joy Division who committed suicide, aged 23, in May 1980.
The winner of the Orange Rising Star Award will be announced at the British Academy Film Awards in February.
Sam won Most Promising Newcomer for his performance in Control at the British Independent Film Awards (Bifas) last November.
It was the first major role for Sam, who has previously enjoyed small television parts and a minor role in the Madchester film 24 Hour Party People.
The black and white film, which was a major hit at the Cannes film festival last year, also earned Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn two awards for best director and best debut director.
Although Sam now lives in Berlin, he still fronts a band called 10,000 Things.
