PEOPLE living in an Ilkley residential home raised more than £1400 for a children’s hospice by holding a charity garden party.
Abbeydale, on Grove Road, staged the event in aid of the Ilkley Friends of Martin House.
Care Manager Francesca Dey described the garden party as a huge success and said it had raised a total of £1412.
She added: “The residents and staff at Abbeydale have been making crafts including badges, knitting clothes, sewing cushions and making dreamcatchers, the ladies who are partially sighted also made beaded jewellery, Craft Corner made over £100.
“We also included a raffle and a tombola with prizes donated by shops and restaurants within the local community such as The Box Tree, Café J and many more.
“We had an old-fashioned sweet shop, a bake off, face painting, and a bran tub for all to enjoy. Martin House attended with their own raffle and guess the name of the teddy bear, organised by Pam Ravenscroft. We also had in attendance Alice Collins, Mason’s Gin, Little Lover’s Ceramics and Lucy’s candle company who all contributed their profits to the fund.”
