A MAN has been cleared of charges connected to an attempt to murder a man in Prestwich.
Daniel Boyle, aged 31, of Trowtree Avenue, Gorton, had been facing charges of conspiracy to murder and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a machete, after 50-year-old John Louden suffered life-changing injuries at the house in Glebelands Road in November, 2017.
The case against Boyle was dropped yesterday after the prosecution offered no evidence against him.
The trial of the remaining five defendants is expected to start on Friday, at Bolton Crown Court, pending any further delays and is expected to last two weeks.
The men who face various charges including conspiracy to murder and possession of dangerous weapons are Waseem Ahmed, aged 30, of Greenstead Avenue, Manchester; Dominic Burke, aged 21, of Whinfell Drive, Middleton, Steven O'Donnell, 24, of Carr Avenue, Prestwich; Matthew Moss, 24, of Rydal Avenue, Chadderton; Gorton; and Anthony Ward, aged 30, of Braithwaite Road, Middleton.
All five were remanded in custody.
