HORSFORTH School has enjoyed a record-breaking year for A-level results.

A record 42 per cent of the school’s students achieved three A-levels at A*-B grades this time, while nearly a third of all grades awarded were at A*-A.

The school says it also achieved a 'close to 100 per cent' pass rate for the ninth consecutive year - ensuring most students are able to take the next step they had wished for.

Many have secured places at university including at Russell Group and Oxbridge universities such as Oxford, Durham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield and York.

Standout individual successes included those of Harita Patel, Nathan Strathdee and James Fiddes - who each achieved four A* grades.

Harita is to go on to study Medicine at Newcastle University while Nathan will pursue Engineering at The University of Sheffield and James will study Physics at Durham University.

There was further success, too, for 2015 Child Genius winner Thomas Frith who has added another two A-levels to his collection - while aged just 15.

Thomas already had A* graded A-levels in Mathematics and Further Mathematics and an A graded A-level in Computer Science.

He has now added Physics and Additional Further Mathematics, both at A*, to take his tally to five.

Dr. Paul Bell, Headteacher at Horsforth School added “We are incredibly proud of our students - their commitment and dedication to their studies has paid off and they are a credit to the school and their families. We wish them all the very best of luck for the future.”

"With Harita, Nathan and James it just shows what hard work and dedication can achieve and to gain four A* grades at A-level is exceptional.

"We are beyond proud and know that the students will go on to have very bright futures.

"Thomas’s academic achievements are outstanding, especially as he is only just about to start Year 11.

"His future certainly looks bright and we are very proud of him."
