THE Red Lion in Burley-in-Wharfedale continues to go from strength to strength after local residents saved their village from closure last year.
Landlord Alan Hayes said: “Our initial 6 months agreement stretched to 12 months but during that time our new restaurant opened to excellent reviews and the support we received from the residents of our fantastic village was absolutely sensational.
"The great news is that we have now signed a five year tenancy going forward and the pub has just re-opened after a significant refurbishment lifting the ambiance to an even higher level.
"The new Scarecrow Room was opened by the team's identical twins Paul and Stuart whilst the rest of us looked on. "Bradford councillor Anne Hawkesworth joined me to lend her support to the campaign and took the opportunity to hone her pint pulling skills."
Cllr Hawkesworth said: "I am continually impressed by the community spirit shown by the residents of Burley in support of local campaigns to improve the quality of life in the village.”
