TO celebrate Ilkley being a host town for this year’s Tour de Yorkshire, Wharfedale brewery have created a ‘King o’t Mountains’ blonde ale in association with Ilkley-based cycle brand Fat Lad at the Back.

The ale will be available at their flagship pub The Flying Duck in Ilkley as well as a number of other pubs throughout the Wharfe Valley.

King o’t Mountains blonde is a straw coloured blonde session ale weighing in at an ABV of 3.9%; it combines English malts with a blend of New Zealand and American hops to create a lingering citrus grapefruit flavours and a fresh satisfying bitter finish.

Wharfedale Brewery marketing manager, Jonathan Shepherd said: “We’re thrilled that Ilkley will once again be put on the map as we welcome the Tour de Yorkshire. We’re expecting an influx of cycling fans and spectators and wanted to mark the occasion with a special beer with our friends Fat Lad at the Back.”

Fat Lad founder Richard Bye said: “Ilkley has always been a cycle town, but the Tour creates a huge buzz and we really wanted to do something to capture the excitement of the event. I can’t wait to have a pint of King o’t mountains and watch some of the best cyclists in the world in my own back yard!”
