A MAJOR water leak in Otley has been fixed.
A large overflow had been running onto a section of Leeds Road - on the A660 just past the roundabout, leading up to Old Pool Bank - for several weeks.
A ward councillor, who initially thought the water was run-off from the hills following recent snow and rain, raised the matter with Leeds City Council last weekend.
He was told that a 'historic feed to Otley waterworks' had either collapsed or become blocked, leading to 'significant water escape...which is flowing down to Leeds Road.'
Leeds City Council then sent contractors to the site, on a hill above the road, on Tuesday, April 17 to make the necessary repairs.
