AN OTLEY nursery is celebrating being awarded the highest possible Ofsted rating.

The Little Green Frog Nursery has been ranked as Outstanding following a recent inspection.

The Ofsted report praised the nursery's 'inspirational leadership', highly qualified staff and 'excellent' teaching.

Based beside Ashfield Primary School on Weston Lane, the business was set up in 2005 by owner Ruth Johnson.

She said: "We are delighted to have been recognised as an outstanding provider of baby care and pre-school education.

"This is the highest possible judgement and only 18 per cent of nurseries in Yorkshire currently are deemed to be Outstanding.

"We take great pride in our work with the youngest members of our local community.

"Our setting is completely inclusive, often supporting children with additional needs and government funding means that many families are able to access outstanding childcare and pre-school education at very little cost, or for free."

In their conclusions, the Ofted inspectors said: "The provider and manager provide inspirational leadership.

"They are dedicated and demonstrate incredible passion in creating a forward thinking inspiring nursery where children’s learning is given top priority.

"The highly qualified staff team has a first class understanding of how young children learn.

"Teaching is excellent, children make exceptional progress in their learning."
