BURLEY, Menston, Pool Parish Councils and Otley Town Council have been working together for the last four years to create a Wharfedale Greenway, using the route of the old railway line that was closed in the 1960s.

The partnership has involved discussions with landowners, agreeing routes and working out costs. The partners are now ready to submit the first bid for funding phase one, Otley to Burley.

This Saturday, February 10 is a chance to walk the first phase of the Greenway, hear about the plans and have a chance to put forward any of your views.

The walk begins at 10am from the A660 Otley roundabout and the walk will take about two hours ending with a cup of tea/coffee in Burley Library and a chance to see the revised plans.

Councillor Peter Beaumont, chairman of Community and Environment Committee Burley Parish Council said: "It has taken time to get the Greenway to this stage but we are now ready with Phase One Otley to Burley and would like you to help with planning the Greenway by taking part in walking from Otley to Burley this Saturday."
