ONE of the main roads into Pool-in-Wharfedale has reopened following a crash.

The A658 Harrogate Road was closed in both directions for several hours on Friday, January 12, following an accident between Pool and Huby.

The incident, reported just before 7am, happened near the Esso service station at Riffa and involved a collision between a car and a motorcycle.

Traffic Inspector Paul Cording from North Yorkshire Police had advised drivers to avoid the area and use an alternative route.

He tweeted: "The #A658 is likely to remain closed between #Pool & #ButtersykeBar roundabout for some time whilst my colleagues carry out an investigation so please seek an alternative route and allow extra time for your journey this morning.

"Consider #A61 & #A659 as a diversion."

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman added: "This incident was reported to us at 6.52am on January 12 on Harrogate road, Leathley, near the Riffa service station.

"It involved a car and a motorcycle.

"The motorcycle rider has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious leg and head injuries."
