REAL ale enthusiasts will be making a bee-line for Otley this weekend.

The town's 2017 Beer Festival takes place at Otley Rugby Club on Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25.

A range of 60 real ales will be on offer along with keg beers, supplied and served by the Curious Hop, and a selection of ciders.

The festival will run from noon to 11pm on both days and will also feature a programme of live music on both evenings.

A spokesman for organisers Otley RATS (Real Ale Tasting Society) said: "The beer festival has grown steadily each year ever since the first one back in 1997 and this year's will be even better!

"It is a fantastic opportunity for you to support the local community, sample a few beers and generally have a great time."

Among the featured beers this year will be everything from blonde and golden ales to milk stouts and porter.

Abbeydale Brewery's Dr Morton's Zombie Chainsaw, Wilde Child's Righteous Indignation and Eyes' Deconstructed Jaffa Cake are just some of the more intriguingly named varieties that will be on offer.

The festival has been sharing its proceeds between Otley Parish Church - which it originally started to help - and local good causes since 2005.

This year's beneficiaries, alongside the church, will be mental health charity Young Minds, the Children's Neuroscience ward at Leeds General Infirmary, and Otley Action for Older People.

Tickets will be available on the door, priced £4, which includes a commemorative glass and programme while beer tokens will also be available to buy.
