BEFORE the mad Christmas rush and the blockbuster bonanza hits our screen at Ilkley Cinema, we decided to catch our breath and revisit some of the highly popular films we've had over the last month. And on this subject, we are happy to report the return of Robin Cavendish's courageous story in Breathe.

For one weekend only, we are also bringing back sci-fi sequel Blade Runner 2049, and for Kids' Club, we unleash our inner ninjas in The LEGO Ninjago Movie. We also continue to show the hilarious comedy drama The Death of Stalin. The stunningly mesmerising Loving Vincent brushes across our canvas film screen once again, as we explore the life and death of legendary painter Vincent van Gogh.

If you have managed to catch these wonderful films already, then fear not my friends, we have some new guests joining the party. Crime thriller Detroit is based on the real-life events of the rioting and civil unrest threatening to tear apart the American city in the summer of 1967, where rogue police officers respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice on their minds. It has been fifty years since these terrible events occurred, and yet the subject of racial crime still hangs heavily in the world, which makes Detroit an eye-opening watch to say the least.

The notion of a "lads' holiday" is nothing new, some go to Las Vegas, others to Malaga and if the purse strings don't quite stretch that far, some merely go for a cheeky weekend in Newcastle. For the group of friends in The Ritual, they had something a little different in mind. After these university friends reunite, they settle on a hiking weekend in the most remote of locations in Sweden, but mysterious things start happening in this horror flick and they fear that a menacing presence is talking them. One thing for sure is that this will certainly be a holiday to remember.
