PUPILS and staff at Guiseley School are celebrating after receiving a prestigious Artsmark award.

Guiseley is one of only two schools in the whole of Yorkshire to achieve the highest platinum award given by the Arts Council England to recognise schools that champion the arts and strive for excellence. The scheme celebrates schools that embrace the arts across the curriculum, bringing them to life for children and young people.

Headteacher Paul Morrissey said: "We are extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Platinum Award and are one of only two schools in the whole of Yorkshire to achieve this level. We are committed to delivering a high quality of art and cultural education and we look forward to continue to grow with Artsmark."
