ILKLEY boxer Louis Brow, 17 and a pupil at Ilkley Grammar School had his first boxing match representing Eastburn Boxing Club last week.
Fighting for the first time as a junior middleweight under ABA boxing rules, Louis, nicknamed Goldenboy, was pitched against Macauley O'Brien of Durham Boxing Club, who had previous fight experience, over three, two minute rounds. Brow went on the offensive from the opening bell, and apart from a temporary switch of momentum in the second round, his quick combinations, power and footwork led to all three judges giving a unanimous decision in a hard fought bout, winning all three rounds. Both boxers were applauded by a packed crowd at Harehills Fight Night with the fight described as the best of the 15 bout card. Louis was very pleased with the win and would particularly like to thank all friends and family who travelled from Ilkley to support him, and especially his coaches Mark Robson and Naz Jalil of Eastburn Boxing Club.
