WHARFEDALE Chamber Ensemble will return to the Burley Summer Festival to perform its 5th annual concert.

The ensemble will perform a varied evening of classical pieces in Burley-in-Wharfedale Methodist Church at 7.30pm on Saturday, August 19.

Music from the string orchestra, conducted by David Greed (Leader of the Orchestra of Opera North) and led by Clare Richards, will include Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No.9 in C Major and Dag Wiren’s Serenade for Strings. The orchestra will be joined by harpist Georgina Wells in Vaughan-Williams’ Five Variants on Dives and Lazarus.

The orchestra will also welcome trumpeter Hannah Mackenzie in Neruda’s Trumpet concerto in E flat. Hannah has recently graduated from Lancaster University, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Hannah works with a number of professional ensembles including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and The Hallé Orchestra and is a regular concert soloist, performing extensively throughout the UK. Alongside her playing, Hannah is also a passionate educator, teaching in several primary schools across Merseyside as well as tutoring privately.
