OTLEY Bellman Terry Ford will really have something to shout about when he visits Canada in September.
Mr Ford, who has a string of town crier competition successes to his name, has been invited to take part in the world championship in Nova Scotia.
The bellman will be battling against some of the world's best at the Annapolis Valley international competition.
He said: "These World Championships, are usually invitation only and invitees are chosen from Criers who have achieved success in competitions, nationally or internationally.
"I first competed internationally two years ago in Bermuda, where I gained 6th place. Last year in the Netherlands, I was placed second against criers from Belgium, Germany and Holland. I'm hoping to improve on that this year in Canada."
Twenty one of the top competitive town criers from around the world will converge on the Annapolis Valley in September.
During the contest Mr Ford will be proclaiming the charms of Otley and Wharfedale.
He said: "On the other days of the competition, I will be visiting local businesses and communities and acting as Ambassador for Otley, promoting our town to the rest of the world, through media interviews and interaction with local people."
Mr Ford recently gained second place in the British Town Crier Championships in Colchester.
