Beeston St Anthony's 6 Pool 2

TEN-MAN Pool fell to defeat in their West Yorkshire League Premier Division game on Saturday, with Beeston St Anthony's going top of the table after a 6-2 win.

Sean Jeavons' hat-trick, a strike from Joe Wood and a double from substitute Sam Morrell gave the hosts a comfortable victory in the end, despite Pool's valiant efforts.

After taking the lead through Josh Wagstaff's powerful long-range drive, decisions went against the visitors to see them go a goal and then a man down.

Wood weaved his way through several challenges before finishing to equalise, and then a mistimed tackle in the area gave Beeston the chance to take the lead from the spot - and Jeavons obliged with his first of the day.

If momentum wasn't already with Beeston, they were then granted a numerical advantage shortly after as Scott Firth's late challenge forced the referee to show a red card.

Down to ten, goalkeeper Andy Doey was much more involved for Pool, making several good saves as the hosts piled on the pressure.

However, despite Josh Waite's header finishing off a great Pool move, Beeston made their man advantage count as Jeavons got his hat-trick and Morrell made a significant impact off the bench with a brace.

POOL made An excellent start to the new campaign by coming out on top in a good match between two good sides.

Jack Farrimond and Jamie Algar were on the mark for Pool, while a goalmouth clearance from Max Drake, and some fine saves from keeper Michael Tosney kept Mods at bay.
