EACH of Otley's pubs has been allocated a 'celebrity alias' for next Yorkshire Day.

Visitors might find themselves enjoying a drink in the Hannah Cockroft or Dynamo on August 1, 2018.

Otley Pub Club had asked people to vote in its Yorkshire Day Celebrities Survey, so all the town's inns could be temporarily renamed.

The club supplemented those choices with a selection of its own to make 21 names.

A draw to pair venues with celebrities was held at the Black Horse on Tuesday and led by comedian Charlie Chuck, assisted by survey competition winner Dave Pentelow.

Pub Club Secretary Bob Brook said: "It is a bit of fun as well as a good way of showing the affection Otley people have for famous sons and daughters of Yorkshire.

"We want to thank all who helped and completed the survey, Wharfedale Waygooze, The Black Horse Hotel, Doris Dent Estates and Charlie Chuck."

The club will ask each celebrity to visit 'their' pub next August - or send a message or piece of memorabilia instead.

The draw results were: Corinne Bailey-Rae - The White Swan; Alan Bennett - The Cross Pipes; Anita Rani - Stew & Oyster; Angela Griffin – The Bay Horse; Dickie Bird – Otley Tavern; Dynamo – The Roebuck; Sir Gary Verity – The Black Horse; Hannah Cockroft – The Junction; Ian McMillan - Rose and Crown; Jarvis Cocker – Manor House; Jimi Mistry – The Old Cock; Jodie Whittaker – The Black Bull; John Simm – Otley Tap House; Dame Judi Dench - Horse and Farrier; Kadeena Cox – North Bar Social; Lizzie Deignan – The Royalty; Michael Palin – The Bowling Green; Nicola Adams – Red Lion; Sean Bean - The Fleece; Ricky Wilson -The Yew Tree and the Brownlee brothers – Whitakers.
