ILKLEY Art Show is promising to be bigger and better than ever this August after it was unable to go ahead last year.

The event will take place at the King's Hall and Winter Garden from 10am to 4pm on August 11 and 12. Advance tickets cost £4.50 or £3.50 for concessions.

There will be free demonstrations throughout the two days given by Charles Evans, Jeremy Taylor, Tony Hogan and Peter Woolley among others. As well as demonstrating, Robert Dutton will hold a 'Masterclass Session' exclusively on the stage on Saturday, where he will share his mixed media skills with the audience. Entrance for this is by ticket only, available from The Art Shop pre-show.

There may still be space available at the workshops, and a large selection of art materials will also be available. Wallace Seymour Fine Art Materials are launching their extended range of Vintage Watercolours, Canson have a new watercolour paper, Derwent have a new coloured pencil, and Stephen Coates will have his 'foliator brush'.

A spokeswoman for the event said: "The Exhibition has attracted many new and talented artists from throughout the region and a bit further afield. Kendal artist Amanda Watson is showing atmospheric oils of the Lake District, and from Durham we have Sarah Hill’s vibrant watercolours.

"Local artists Jeremy Taylor, Richard Gawthorpe and Angela Hammond, will be showing their latest work, and besides 'paintings' we have photographs, reduction lino prints, silk paintings, coloured pencil/graphite and pastels on show."

Tickets for the art show, workshops and masterclass are available from the shop. Phone 01943 609031, email info@theartshops.co.uk or visit Hawksworth Street, Ilkley, LS29 9DU.
