EVERYTHING from robotics to dancing workshops will be on offer at Otley Courthouse over the summer holidays.

The arts venue has lined up a variety of creative attractions designed to appeal to children during the big school break.

They will begin on Wednesday, August 2 when the Courthouse is teaming up with Chapel FM Arts Centre to produce its first ever radio broadcast.

Running from 11am to 3pm, the event is open to anyone aged between ten and 14 who would like to try producing or presenting their own programme.

The Courthouse's Marketing and Development officer, Katie Stitson, said: "This is a chance to see how East Leeds FM was set up and join them on a live broadcast.

"Transport to and from the Courthouse to Chapel FM in Seacroft is included and drinks are also provided - all you have to do is bring yourselves, something to eat and loads of enthusiasm."

Tickets for the workshops, which are supported by funding from Leeds City Council's Outer North West Community Committee, cost £5 and places are limited.

Lego Robotics will the theme on Tuesday, August 8 when Junior STEM - which specialises in computer and engineering technology - will help participants bring their Lego creations to life.

The 10am to 1pm session, for children aged seven and over, will show how to use computer software, motors and sensors to create everything from alligators with snapping jaws to moving trains.

Tickets are also £5 per child.

The Courthouse will then be teaming up with Chapel FM again from Wednesday, August 16 to Friday, August 18 when it holds a series of radio and podcast workshops.

Running from 11am to 3pm daily, the event will give children - aged ten to 14 - a chance at the end to produce a downloadable podcast.

Tickets cost £5 a day and participants are welcome to come for a single day, two days or all three.

The price includes drinks for the day but children should bring their own packed lunch.

Music and dance will take centre stage between Monday, August 21 and Friday, August 25 when the Courthouse hosts Disney Magic Performance Summer School.

The week-long session, running daily from 9.30am to 3.30pm, will teach a variety of techniques culminating in an end-of-week show.

Tickets cost £100 - £90 for a second child from the same family - and the school is open to those aged four to 14.
