A GROUP of students have been rewarded for making an 'outstanding contribution' to Horsforth School.

The five GCSE pupils - Nathan Chaplow, Josh Wilkinson, Ethan Wright, Josh Greenwood and Joe Moss - each received more than 50 bonus points for their efforts during Year 11.

Progress Leader Lee Bennett: "I’m delighted to have been able to give the lads concerned these awards which recognise the significant contribution that they have made to our school throughout their busy GCSE year.

"We are very proud of them."

Ethan Wright, with 96 points, also recently received a Young Achiever’s Award from Horsforth Town Council for his commitment to fundraising for the lighting of Horsforth Cenotaph.

Josh Wilkinson, meanwhile, was recently elected as Vice Chair of the School Council.

Mr Bennett added: "All the lads work hard and play hard.

"They are excellent role models as shown by the time that they’ve given to mentoring younger students.

"We wish them well for their exams and look forward to seeing them make an equally strong contribution in the Sixth Form."
